Indian athletes who received prestigious awards for their outstanding achievements in sports include Chirag Shetty and Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy, who were honored with the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award for 2023 in badminton. At a sports ministry reception, a commitment to fitness was expressed by one athlete ahead of upcoming tournaments. Chess Grandmaster R. Vaishali was applauded for being the third woman in India, after Koneru Humpy and Dronavalli Harika, to achieve the GM title. Other notable awardees included wrestler Antim Panghal, boxer Mohammad Hussamuddin, and athlete Parul Chaudhary for the Arjuna award. Dronacharya awardees featured chess coach RB Ramesh, who played a crucial role in nurturing young talent like R. Praggnanandhaa. The Khel Ratna, Arjuna, and Dronacharya awards come with cash prizes of Rs 25 lakh, Rs 15 lakh, and Rs 15 lakh, respectively. The recipients of the 2023 Arjuna Awards span various sports, showcasing the diverse talent in India.
