Telangana to be Designated as TG Instead of TS: Explanation Unveiled
The Telangana cabinet, led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has made significant decisions to alter the state’s official abbreviation, introduce a new state anthem, and reimagine the appearance of Telangana Talli, the symbolic mother goddess of the region. The chosen state anthem is ‘Jaya Jaya Ho Telangana’ by Andre Sri, and the state’s abbreviation will shift from TS to TG. The ruling party alleges that the previous administration selected ‘TS’ to align with their party name, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), formerly known as Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), reflecting their national aspirations. It’s worth noting that each state in India is identified by a two-letter abbreviation, such as AP for Andhra Pradesh, BR for Bihar, and MH for Maharashtra.
The cabinet has also approved the conduct of a caste census in the state, aligning with the Congress’s commitment to undertake such a census nationwide once in power. Last month, Mr. Reddy had announced that the state would initiate a caste census soon.
These decisions were revealed ahead of the Telangana budget session starting on Thursday. Chief Minister Reddy has thrown down the gauntlet to his predecessor, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), KCR’s son KT Rama Rao (KTR), and nephew Harish Rao, challenging them to a debate on irrigation projects on the assembly floor. BRS has accepted this challenge.
The Congress and BRS have been engaged in a verbal battle, each accusing the other of neglecting the state’s interests and the welfare of farmers.
Gas and electricity assurances will be introduced by the state government in the upcoming session, with the Chief Minister delivering the announcements in the assembly.
Furthermore, the cabinet has directed the allocation of 100 acres for the construction of a new high court complex in the Rajendranagar district.
