Telangana Government Prolongs School and College Holidays Until January 30 in Response to Covid-19
HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has prolonged the vacation period for all educational institutions, excluding medical colleges, until January 30, 2022, as announced by Somesh Kumar, the Chief Secretary of Telangana, via Twitter. Initially, the government had announced a break for all educational institutions from January 8 to January 16. However, due to the escalating Covid-19 cases, the government has decided to extend the holidays until January 30.
Official orders for this extension are expected to be issued shortly. Consequently, various institutions, including Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTUH), have opted to continue online classes. JNTUH has directed all affiliated and constituent colleges to conduct online classes for undergraduate and postgraduate courses, encompassing BTech, BPharm (first and second years), MTech/MPharm (first and second years), MBA/MCA (first and second years), and PharmD (first to fifth year).
A circular issued by Manzoor Hussain, JNTUH registrar, stated, “All UG/PG courses (BTech, BPharm first and second years, MTech/MPharm, first and second years, MBA/MCA first and second year, PharmD first to five year, PharmD first and second years classes to be conducted in online mode.” Additionally, mid-exams scheduled for PharmD second year from January 17 to January 22 may be rescheduled during the second phase of instructions as per the convenience of colleges.
