Rahul Gandhi to embark on ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ from Manipur to Mumbai starting January 14.

Bharat Nyay Yatra' from Manipur to Mumbai

Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader, is set to initiate a new outreach initiative in Manipur following his earlier Bharat Jodo Yatra. The yatra, commencing on January 14, is planned to conclude in Mumbai on March 20, as revealed by Congress general secretary (Organisation) K C Venugopal on Wednesday.

On December 21, the Congress Working Committee unanimously expressed the opinion that Rahul Gandhi should embark on a yatra from East to West. Rahul Gandhi agreed to fulfill the CWC’s wishes, and the All India Congress Committee has decided to organize a ‘Bharat Nyay Yatra’ from January 14 to March 20, spanning from Manipur to Mumbai,” as announced by Venugopal in a press conference.

During the 65-day march, Gandhi plans to cover a distance of 6,200 km, passing through 14 states and 85 districts. The states on the route include Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

“In this yatra, Rahul Gandhi will engage with the youth, women, and marginalized communities,” he added.

However, unlike the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the upcoming outreach program will be conducted using a bus.

According to Venugopal, the bus yatra provides maximum accessibility to people along the way, and there will be occasional short walks included in the itinerary. Gandhi had previously undertaken the Bharat Jodo Yatra, covering 4500 km over 150 days, starting from Kanyakumari on September 6 of the previous year. The Congress party leaders had persistently requested Gandhi to embark on another yatra. During the last Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting on December 21, the committee unanimously encouraged Gandhi to organize another yatra. In response, Gandhi expressed his willingness to do whatever the party desired.
