“PM Modi Expresses Assurance of Victory in Lok Sabha Polls, Affirms Intent to Unveil Complete Budget Post-Election”

In anticipation of the Budget Session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that, in line with the customary practice during an election year, only an interim Budget would be presented. Expressing confidence in returning to power, he conveyed that a comprehensive Budget would be presented once the new government is established. Greeting the media with a “Ram Ram,” Mr. Modi highlighted that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s Budget speech would provide a general overview of the government’s vision and policies. The Budget Session of Parliament is set to commence on Wednesday.

In the inaugural Budget session at the new Parliament House, Mr. Modi highlighted the passage of the Naari Shakti Vandan Adhineeyum, emphasizing the government’s commitment to women’s representation in the Lok Sabha and State Assemblies. He noted that this spirit continued during the Republic Day celebrations, with a significant presence of women in the parade.

Addressing the acrimony between the Opposition and the treasury benches during the Winter Session, where 146 MPs were suspended, the Prime Minister urged “habitually unruly” MPs to reflect on their behavior. He stressed the importance of engaging in meaningful discussions on serious issues, noting that disruptive behavior diminishes Constitutional values. Mr. Modi emphasized that voices contributing constructively to discussions are remembered, contrasting them with those who create disruptions. The Budget Session, scheduled until February 9, will feature President Droupadi Murmu’s first joint address to both Houses in the new Parliament building and the presentation of the interim Budget by Ms. Sitharaman.
