Mayank Agarwal’s Health Scare Leads to Police Case: Tripura Authorities Investigate Cricketer’s Hospitalization
An inquiry was initiated by the Tripura police shortly after Indian cricketer Mayank Agarwal was urgently taken to a private hospital in Agartala following a significant health crisis during a flight from Agartala to Surat via New Delhi on Tuesday. According to sources, he is currently in a “clinically stable” condition and receiving medical care.
A complaint was filed at the New Capital Complex police station after the captain of the Karnataka Ranji Trophy team, also a cricketer, experienced irritation in his mouth and throat upon consuming a liquid, which he believed to be water, from a bottle before the aircraft departure. Subsequently, he was promptly disembarked and taken to a private hospital. The police registered the case based on the statement provided by Agarwal’s manager, Ramesh Rao.
Following the incident, Kiran Kumar, the Superintendent of Police in West Tripura, visited the cricketer at the hospital and held discussions with Rao. In an official statement, the hospital reported that Mayank Agarwal was transported from MBB Airport Agartala to ILS Hospitals Agartala. He had oral irritation and lip swelling, and after an emergency assessment by the hospital consultants, he was admitted. Currently, he is clinically stable and under constant monitoring.
Agarwal, who has participated in 21 Test innings for the Indian cricket team, successfully captained Karnataka to a win against Tripura in a recent Ranji Trophy match. Notably, he is married to the daughter of Praveen Sood, the Chief of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
