K Chandrashekar Rao, the ex-chief minister of Telangana, was hospitalized in Hyderabad due to a fall and subsequent fracture. According to his son and Bharat Rashtra Samithi leader KT Rama Rao, he is scheduled to undergo a hip replacement surgery on Friday at a private super-specialty hospital.

“Sri KCR Garu is scheduled for a Hip Replacement Surgery today following a bathroom fall. Grateful for the well-wishes and messages for his swift recovery,” shared KTR, providing a health update.

Rao, who stepped down as the chief minister on December 3 following his party’s defeat in the recent assembly election, has been residing at his Erravelli farmhouse near Hyderabad. During his stay, he has been engaging with party members and the public. On Thursday night, he experienced a fall.

Sri Kalvakuntla Chandrashekhar Rao garu experienced a slip and fall in his residence bathroom, leading to his admission to Yashoda Hospital Somajiguda for further medical attention. Following assessments, including CT scans, it was determined that he sustained a left hip fracture, specifically an intracapsular neck of femur fracture. The recommended course of action is a left hip replacement, and the anticipated recovery period for such cases is expected to be six to eight weeks,” stated KTR during the health bulletin.

“A multidisciplinary team, comprising specialists in Orthopaedics, Anaesthesia, General Medicine, and Pain Medicine, is consistently monitoring his condition. As of now, his overall health is stable, and the hospital will provide periodic updates on his health status,” added the hospital.

Rao’s daughter and BRS MLC K Kavitha had earlier mentioned that he had suffered a “minor injury” and reassured that he would recover soon.

“KCR Garu, the leader of BRS, has incurred a minor injury and is presently receiving expert care in the hospital. With the outpouring of support and well-wishes, we are confident that he will recover soon. Thankful for all the love,” shared Kavitha on X.
