The video shows a woman with Kajol’s face superimposed on her body changing clothes, but fact-checking platforms such as BoomLive have debunked it. According to these sources, the video is originally from an English social media influencer named Rosie Breen, who posted it on TikTok as part of the ‘Get Ready With Me’ trend on June 5, 2023. The deepfake version has misled users into thinking it is Kajol, raising concerns about the misuse of artificial intelligence tools for creating misleading content.
This incident follows similar instances involving Katrina Kaif and Rashmika Mandanna, where digitally altered images and videos caused a stir online. Katrina Kaif’s case involved an edited image from her film ‘Tiger 3,’ while Rashmika Mandanna faced a deepfake video misrepresenting her in a lift. The spread of such fabricated content has sparked concerns about the reliability of information on the internet, prompting reactions from celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan. In Mandanna’s case, an FIR was filed by the Delhi Police against unknown individuals, and a 19-year-old from Bihar was questioned regarding the initial upload of the video on social media.
