Asaduddin Owaisi describes Mohammad Azharuddin from Congress as a “politician who has not achieved success.”
On Wednesday, AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi criticized Mohammad Azharuddin, the Congress candidate from the Jubilee Hills assembly segment, referring to him as an “unsuccessful politician.” Owaisi expressed optimism that voters would favor his party’s candidate in the area. During a press conference, the Lok Sabha MP dismissed the possibility of a hung assembly in Telangana after the November 30 polls, confidently stating that the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS would secure victory and return to power in the state.
Owaisi elaborated on Azharuddin’s political career, highlighting the lack of success in his endeavors. He pointed out that despite representing the prestigious Moradabad seat in Uttar Pradesh, Azharuddin failed to make a significant impact, receiving votes but not contributing substantially to the constituency’s development. Owaisi emphasized that Azharuddin had not shown dedication or commitment to the betterment of the area.
He added that the former Indian cricketer, who attempted an unsuccessful political run in Rajasthan, neglected his constituency there. “He is not a committed politician, just a skilled cricketer. Despite scoring three centuries after his debut,” he remarked, referencing criminal cases against Azharuddin linked to alleged corruption in the Hyderabad Cricket Association during his leadership.
In response to why AIMIM placed a Muslim candidate against Azharuddin in Jubilee Hills, Owaisi explained that in some state segments, contests often involve candidates from the same caste. Predicting the election outcome, he expressed confidence that KCR would secure a third consecutive term as chief minister, emphasizing the wisdom of the Telangana people.
Owaisi accused the Telangana PCC chief of having RSS connections, claiming that Gandhi Bhavan is influenced by Mohan Bhagwat. Dismissing allegations of a BJP-BRS understanding, he questioned why Chandrasekhar Rao would invest ₹12,000 crore in minority development over the past decade.
Addressing Congress’s history of communal riots and violence, Owaisi argued that both Hindu and Muslim individuals suffered casualties. Regarding BJP’s pledge to eliminate religion-based reservations, he refuted it, stating that the existing four percent quota in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is not based on religion, labeling it false propaganda by the saffron party.
Regarding a video where Owaisi’s brother purportedly threatened an official during a rally, he clarified that they had permission from the Election Commission to hold the meeting until 10 PM, and the official attempted to halt it before the deadline.
