India Dismisses China’s Remarks on PM Modi’s Arunachal Pradesh Visit: ‘No Impact on Ground Reality’
Indian Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reaffirmed India’s steadfast stance in response to China’s diplomatic protest against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh. Jaiswal emphasized that objections to such visits or India’s development initiatives lack logical grounds.
Jaiswal dismissed the objections raised by China regarding the Prime Minister’s visit, highlighting that Indian leaders frequently visit Arunachal Pradesh, just like any other state in India. He reiterated that Arunachal Pradesh has always been an integral and inseparable part of India, a position consistently communicated to the Chinese side.
China had criticized PM Modi’s inauguration of the Sela Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, which enhances Indian troops’ accessibility to areas near the disputed border. However, Jaiswal emphasized that China’s objections won’t alter the reality of Arunachal Pradesh’s status within India.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin reiterated China’s non-recognition of Arunachal Pradesh and its opposition to Modi’s visit, claiming it complicates the border issue. China asserts Arunachal Pradesh as part of South Tibet, using the name Zangnan.
India has consistently rejected China’s territorial claims over Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing its integral status within India and dismissing China’s attempts to rename the region as inconsequential.
