On Thursday, the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police announced the enforcement of restrictions outlined in CrPC Section 144 throughout the district ahead of the Bharat Bandh scheduled by farmers’ unions for Friday. These restrictions include a prohibition on unauthorized public gatherings. Additionally, the police advised commuters traveling to and from Delhi to be mindful of potential traffic diversions in Noida and recommended utilizing the metro rail service whenever possible to minimize inconvenience. These measures were implemented in anticipation of protest marches organized by the farmers’ group Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and other unions, according to police statements.

The Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), a part of SKM, had previously announced a nationwide strike on February 16, citing various unmet demands of farmers. The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) in Noida has also pledged its support to this strike.

Authorities have enforced Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) on February 16, prohibiting unlawful assemblies, unauthorized processions, and the use of private drones near government establishments. Carrying certain weapons in public places is also banned.

The police have issued a traffic advisory, warning of intensive checks at the Noida-Delhi borders, leading to potential diversions and delays. They recommend using the Metro to travel to Delhi and suggest alternative routes for drivers to avoid traffic disruptions.

BKU leader Pawan Khatana stated that farmers are urged to halt work for one day to demand action from the government. The strike entails abstaining from farm work and avoiding market visits. Some traders have also appealed for dialogue between the government and farmers to resolve issues quickly, citing disruptions to daily business activities.

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) has announced its support for the strike, with plans to gather outside the NTPC office in Sector 24 to further the cause.
