David Warner, the Australian opener, issues a heartfelt plea as his cherished Baggy Green goes missing just a day before his farewell Test.
David Warner is facing a challenging situation leading up to Australia’s third Test against Pakistan, where he is set to bid an emotional farewell to red ball cricket. Planning to retire from Test and ODI cricket after the match, Warner expressed on social media that his cherished Australian cap, which he had been eager to wear for the last time, is believed to have been stolen.
Warner shared a video on his Instagram, expressing that he has reached his final option. In the accompanying caption, he revealed that his backpack, containing gifts for his daughters and his cherished baggy green, didn’t make it to Sydney Airport from Melbourne after the second Test. Warner stated, “I’m resorting to this as a last measure. My backpack, including my Baggy Green, was taken from my luggage, sent to Melbourne airport, and flown with @qantas to Sydney a few days ago.”
“I have a deep sentimental attachment to it, and I would love to have it back in my possession this week as I walk out. If the backpack is what you really wanted, I have a spare one available. You won’t face any trouble if you return my Baggy Green,” Warner expressed in the video. “Feel free to reach out to Cricket Australia or me through my social media. I’m willing to give you the backpack in exchange for my cherished item.”
Warner explained that he had already contacted both Qantas, the airline responsible for transporting the team’s bags, and the team’s Southbank hotel in Melbourne, Quay West. “We’ve thoroughly examined CCTV footage; although there are some blind spots, we’ve checked with the Quay West hotel, which we trust completely. They’ve reviewed their cameras, and no one has entered our rooms,” he added.
