Thailand does not require Indian tourists to have a visa.
Beginning next month and lasting until May 2024, India and Taiwanese nationals visiting Thailand will not need a visa. The goal of the move is to draw in more visitors, especially as the peak travel season draws near.
Spokesman Chai Wacharonke states that visitors from Taiwan and India will be allowed to remain in Thailand for a maximum of 30 days. With about 1.2 million arrivals, India is now Thailand’s fourth-largest source market for tourists this year, behind South Korea, China, and Malaysia.
Prior to the pandemic, Thailand had already removed the need for a visa for Chinese visitors, who accounted for 11 million arrivals in 2019. This was done in September.
According to the most recent government data, Thailand saw 22 million tourists between January and October 29, bringing in 927.5 billion baht (or roughly $25.67 billion) for the national economy.
India is becoming a more popular destination for inbound travelers as more airlines and lodging companies focus on this market. About 28 million tourists are expected to arrive this year, according to the government, in an effort to counteract the ongoing weakness in exports, which has been impeding economic growth.
This news highlights Thailand’s efforts to increase tourism by improving accessibility for travelers from Taiwan and India.
