Hospitalized in Chennai, Shubman Gill’s platelet count falls:
The match between India and Pakistan for the Cricket World Cup on October 14 may not go as planned for Shubman Gill. According to reports, the batter was hospitalized in Chennai.
The Indian cricket team may have had a successful opening match against Australia for the Cricket World Cup 2023, but the team is still not at full strength. Shubman Gill, the opening batter for India, is still out due to a health issue. He apparently acquired dengue a few days ago. He has already been disqualified by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from playing in India’s second tournament match against Afghanistan. In reality, it has now come to light that Gill has been admitted to a hospital in Chennai as a result of a low platelet count.
According to reports, the BCCI medical staff is constantly monitoring Gill’s improvement. However, he is not in a position to make a comeback at this time. His administration decided to transfer him to a hospital in Chennai because his platelet count had been low for some time.
According to a Cricbuzz report, the BCCI decided not to let Gill go with his teammates to Delhi for the Afghanistan match because of his low platelet count.
Shubman Gill has been receiving drip care in the Chennai team hotel for a few days. However, his platelet count fell to 70,000, and as is the case with dengue patients, you are admitted to a hospital as a precaution if the count falls below 100,000. He would be released as soon as the total exceeded 100,000 once more, a BCCI source told PTI.
Rizwan, the team doctor for the Indian side, is reportedly staying with the batter to keep an eye on his recovery while Gill is apparently at Chennai’s multi-care speciality hospital “Kauvery.”
Shubman Gill, the squad’s batsman, won’t be going to Delhi with the team on October 9, 2023. The team’s opening batter, who missed the team’s first game against Australia in Chennai as part of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, is expected to miss the team’s upcoming game against Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11. He will remain in Chennai and be under the care of the medical staff, according to a statement released by the BCCI on Monday.
Since the Indian squad arrived in Chennai in preparation for the match against Australia, few players have had the opportunity to see Gill. The BCCI is crossing its fingers that Gill will be available for the Pakistan match on October 14. However, the star batter might find the game to be a little too soon.
If Gill’s condition gets better, the hospital might let him go. He could be transported to Ahmedabad right before the Pakistan match, although it might be difficult for him to demonstrate his match fitness so soon after suffering dengue.
