Promoters Of Apps That Once Ran Juice And Tyre Shops Made 200 Crore A Day
Who are the promoters of the Mahadev online betting app, and what does it exactly do? How did a Chhattisgarh man who owned a juice and tire shop rise to become the head of a sizable betting ring?
New Delhi: The actor Ranbir Kapoor was subpoenaed by the Enforcement Directorate in the Mahadev online betting app case, which has raised awareness of the company that has been charged with money laundering.
In the dark world of internet betting, Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal are two well-known figures.
They have a network not just in India but also in the United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Pakistan. The Enforcement Directorate has issued non-bailable warrants and lookout circulars in order to find the two guys.
Both defendants are citizens of Bhilai, Chhattisgarh.
Surprisingly, Ravi Uppal maintained a tyre business and Sourabh Chandrakar operated a juice bar in Bhilai’s Nehru Nagar until a few years ago. Both, according to the investigators, developed gambling addictions.
The two men traveled to Dubai with what little money they had, where they met a sheikh and a Pakistani national who eventually collaborated to launch the Mahadev online betting software. Soon, Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal became well-known in the world of betting.
According to the ED, the two men established a network in India with about 4,000 panel operators for online betting. Each panel operator takes bets from 200 consumers.
The two were making at least 200 crore every day using this technique, and they were able to create a ’empire’ in the UAE.
Sourabh Chandrakar allegedly spent $200,000,000 to arrange a lavish wedding ceremony for his marriage in the UAE in February of this year. To transport his family from Bhilai and Nagpur to the UAE, he rented a private jet.
Wedding coordinators, dancers, decorators, etc. were paid through hawala channels. When money is transferred without going through the official banking system, it is referred to as a hawala transaction.
14 Bollywood stars were asked by Sourabh Chandrakar to perform at the wedding; currently, the Enforcement Directorate is keeping an eye on all of them.
In the Mahadev online betting app case, last month, the detectives conducted 39 raids in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Bhopal, seizing assets worth 417 crore.
In hiding overseas are Saurabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal.
According to officials, the Mahadev Online Book App is managed from a central head office in the United Arab Emirates, as revealed by the Enforcement Directorate probe. According to the Enforcement Directorate, it operates by franchising “Panel/Branches” to its known associates on a 70% to 30% profit ratio.
